Little Rock Memorial Weekend outreach

We have an exciting lineup of powerful men of God coming in to Little Rock on Memorial Day Weekend. Of the men that we are excited to see coming are Coach Dave Daubenmire, Kevin Thompson and Cal Zastrow. I have listed a brief biography of these men below:

Cal Zastow–Co-founded Personhood USA and has been one of the leading forces bringing the truth of the God-given right to life legislative and initiative battles in state after state throughout America. Zastrow, like half of those in the New Testament’s Hall of Faith in Hebrews 11, the apostles, John the Baptist, and The Lord Himself, have been arrested and jailed for prayerful and peaceful Christian action. Cal’s incarceration for loving his neighbor is in the tradition of men like John Bunyan, Betrich Bonhoeffer, Alan Keyes, and Martin Luther King Jr. I have personally heard great men of God testify that Cal is one of the most Spirit-filled evangelist/pastors that they have ever heard speak and that he will bring grown men to tears with his message.

Kevin Thompson is a powerful street evangelist that has a very powerful testimony of God’s grace in his life. If you have a chance, check out this You Tube video called “Kevin Thompson’s Powerful Testimony” that the Billy Graham Association produced a few years back. Kevin has also had his testimony produced for the 700 Club. Kevin was my roommate at the Ambassador’s Academy five years ago.

Coach Dave Daubenmire–a veteran 25 year high school football coach, was spurred to action when attacked and eventually sued by the ACLU in the late 1990’s for allegedly mixing prayer with his coaching. After a two year battle for his 1st amendment rights and a determination to not back down, the ACLU relented and offered coach an out of court settlement. God honored his stand and the ACLU backed off. Coach’s courageous stand, an inspiration to Americans everywhere, demonstrated that the ACLU can be defeated. As a result, Coach heard the call to move out of the coaching a high school team, to the job of coaching God’s team. PASS THE SALT was formed to encourage the Body of Christ to step into the culture war. “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood…” PASS THE SALT is convinced that God has given the Body a window of opportunity to take our culture back. As an adjunct professor at Mt. Vernon Nazarene University in Mt. Vernon, Ohio, Coach is using his knowledge of education and educational issues to equip Christians to defend the Judeo-Christian worldview. A popular, high-energy speaker, Coach Daubenmire’s motivational lectures, laced with Scripture verses, is challenging Americans all across the country. In addition to his weekly radio show, Coach has made regular appearances on Hannity and Colmes, CBS Evening News, Scarborough Country on MSNBC, Fox News, The Edge with Paula Zahn, Dayside with Linda Vester, and Court TV.

Mark Kiser of Reclaiming Missouri for Christ is bringing a cohort down from the Show-Me State to coordinate the effort here and also provide training for street work at the abortion mill.

Our tentative plan at the present is to minister at the abortion mill on 4 Office Park drive in Little Rock Friday and Saturday. We will have evening meetings at Liberty Community Church (see link below) and possibly have Cal Zastrow preach Friday evening, May 24th. Ministry on the morning of 25th and then have a PASS THE SALT conference for men and their sons on Saturday afternoon and will include an evening meal together at Liberty Community Church.
Brother Cal Zastrow will then bring the Sunday morning message, and we hope to have Kevin give his testimony prior to the service on Sunday morning.

There will also be many opportunities for service throughout this weekend, with Riverfest being the major headliner in LR this weekend!

So please put these dates on your calendars and make plans to attend! If you think that you may be able to attend, please let me know as soon as you can so we can begin making preparations!

Grace be with you,

Don Simmons

An easy, self-indulgent life!

By J.R. Miller

And Jesus was saying to them all: If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross daily and follow Me.” Luke 9:23

We cannot live a life that will please Christ–without great cost to ourselves. It is never an easy thing, to be a disciple of Christ. An easy, self-indulgent life–can never be a Christ-like life.

It was not easy for Christ to redeem sinners. From beginning to end of His earthly ministry, He poured out His own precious life. The people thronged about Him with their sins, their sorrows, and their needs–and virtue went out of Him continually to heal them, to comfort them, to feed their heart-hunger. He utterly forgot Himself–and gave His life and love without stint to every one who asked. At last He literally gave Himself, emptying out His heart’s blood–to give eternal life to sinful and dead souls. His sufferings were finished, when He bowed His head on the cross.

It is now our privilege to suffer for Him–to perpetuate the self-sacrificial love of Christ on this earth. Only in so far as we do this, are we living a life that will please Him.

“I want to know Christ and the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of sharing in His sufferings, becoming like Him in His death!” Philippians 3:10

“Anyone who does not take his cross and follow Me, is not worthy of Me.” Matthew 10:38
